The emission schedule of the LiteDAG Protocol balances three core principles:
- Fairness: Equitable distribution, preventing excessive accumulation by early participants.
- Security: Robust block rewards that persist long enough to secure the network.
- Sustainability: Rapidly reducing inflation to a minimal, sustainable level.
LiteDAG launched with ~196.4 million LDG from the Virel snapshot (1:1 balance migration). New supply is created through block rewards, with a perpetual tail emission ensuring miners are always incentivized.
A Smooth, Predictable Decline
Unlike Bitcoin's abrupt "halving" events, LiteDAG's block reward decreases smoothly by 10% every season (91 days). This provides miners with a predictable and gradual reduction in income, encouraging consistent mining activity.
Key features of the emission schedule:
- Initial Block Reward: 20 LDG per block (15-second block time, ~115,200 LDG mined daily).
- Treasury Fee: 10% of each block reward funds ongoing protocol development.
- Initial Stability Period: The block reward remains at 20 LDG for the first six months (two seasons) before reductions begin.
- Regular Reductions: Starting from the sixth month, the block reward decreases by 10% every season.
- Tail Emission: The block reward never drops below 1 LDG per block (~2.1 million LDG/year), ensuring perpetual miner incentive and long-term network security.
